If you are as much of a fan of Zendaya as the whole world is right now, then you must have seen her rocking the athleisurewear look and turning heads. After her huge debut from the release of Dune Part Two, she’s been here there and everywhere, turning looks and charming us as always.
We mustn’t skip past all the gorgeous ballgowns, jewellery and whole artistry that has been Zendaya the past couple of weeks. From Mugler couture to vintage Givenchy and suits from McQueen, she has done nothing but give the girls what they want.
We are currently seeing a whole different side to Zendaya in the world of fashion and pieces. As she embarks on her other fabulous promo for the new and upcoming film ‘Challengers’, she has decided to lean into the current trends of preppy, sporty and athleticwear fashion. She’s taken a step away from the glitz and glam but of course, she can turn anything into high fashion. For example, last month, she effortlessly rocked a chic courtside tennis outfit. A French-tucked blue button-up with blue pin-striped boxer shorts and leather court heels. The hair just went perfectly with this outfit; it was giving a rich housewife a 50s look, and I am obsessed.
Later that day, she was dressed for the red carpet in Loewe nonetheless, who designed a glittery, plunging dress cinched at her waist. If that wasn’t enough to represent the athletic style she has brought to the table, the dress was embellished and printed with a tennis silhouette, a racket and a tennis ball.
Truly campy and iconic, I mean, she couldn’t be giving us more signs of what styles she is into this season, plus it’s very on brand with all the big house names that dress Zendaya is bringing to the runway. For example, we’ve seen Gucci, Mui Mui and many others represent this type of fashion, bringing it into the high fashion market, so we can trust that Zendaya is going to be the peak of the core and definitely a vocal point for style inspiration.
If you haven’t realised this yet, ‘Challengers’ is set in the world of Grand Slam tennis and is based on a woman who transformed her husband’s tennis career, not necessarily based on a true story but inspiring, and it couldn’t have come at a better time in the world of fashion. Athleisure wear seems to be everywhere, from pleated skirts, gym leggings, loungewear sets, little shorts and just anything sporty or cute and the twirls are all over it like a rash.
As the film is expected to be released on April 26th, we can only expect that Zendaya will be serving us some chic, well crafted and tennis-inspired pieces. As she is such an influential woman, we can only expect the fashion girlies to adapt these styles into their streetwear, and I am so excited to see what everyone comes up with after this inspiring film breaks into cinemas. I will, of course, be getting front seats for our girl, Zendaya.
How To Adopt Tennis Core In Your Fashion
Tennis Skirt
This style of skirt has been a staple in fashion ever since its creation. It was one of the first sporting designs made specifically for women, which is fascinating but its breathable factor and pleats soon got adopted into everyday wear. It has the power to make an outfit look well put together but it’s also insanely comfortable.
You can easily stack a tennis skirt with a shirt and jumper, just like Zendaya did and make it look preppy.
Tennis Dress
As the summer approaches, why not adopt some sporty chic in the form of a tennis dress? It is not only easy to style but also insanely breathable and comfortable during those hot, humid days. It is also very on-brand for the new film ‘Challengers’ so you might as well get ahead of the trend.
Accessories
Simple and elegant is this kind of style so I would suggest you go minimal with the accessories and add on. A headband could be a nice addition to the outfit, and some little hoops and a watch will have you looking expensive, chic and ready to tackle the day ahead.
Where Can I Buy These Pieces?
While you can go straight to the sports brands yourself, such as Nike, Gilly Hicks or Bo and Tee, if you are just after style, maybe try brands such as ASOS, Urban Outfitters and other large fast fashion brands that offer multiple options for the same pieces.
Tennis fashion has been around for a while, so it would be hard to find perfect pieces that match your vibe.
